"This picture represents Thunder Bay and the relationship of our Canadian Geese. The female bird (head lowered) and the male (wings extended outward) mate for life. The female has her eyes looking toward the male, and the male is looking toward the heavens. This represents that they are connected to everything in the universe. The spirit of the Sleeping Giant is overlooking Thunder Bay, protecting the land, which was known for its silver mines and precious metals. Our grandmother is displayed within the male’s feathers and our grandfather within the female’s feathers, thus creating a balance between the genders, similarly as in a Metis relationship."
